Who Is Anthony?

Anthony Mongiello is the latest in his family line of innovators within the Italian-American food industry. From his grandfather’s 1920’s invention of recyclable tin ricotta cans, to his father’s design of our country’s first mozzarella-making machine. Plus, his father’s introduction of the now-ubiquitous one-ounce string cheese stick left Anthony with some big shoes to fill.

That Anthony Mongiello met that challenge is an understatement when in the late 1980’s he shared his then-new patent for Stuffed Crust Pizza with Pizza Hut, and as they say, the rest is American food culture history. Since then, Anthony has founded his own Italian food company, Formaggio® Brand which he owns and operates in Upstate New York. From this headquarters Mongiello continues to produce top quality Italian-style artisan grade products while always innovating in new, unexplored areas. In fact, foodies all over can thank The Big Cheese™ and his relentless promotional efforts for the popularity of Fresh Mozzarella over the last few decades, especially the Caprese salad which has taken over appetizer menus by storm over the last decade or so.

Mongiello is the recipient of over 60 awards, medals, trophies, ribbons, titles, and other accolades for his food industry products which are enjoyed domestically all over these United States as well as abroad in countries around the world.

Anthony’s own experience with choking and knowing the life-saving potential of the B.U.D. technique is closely related to the food industry experience that Anthony has so much passion for and which drives him to share it with everyone. The food industry has given his family the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. Mr. Mongiello’s wish is to give back.
